Best Practices for Meaningful Use Mock Audits for Hospitals
CMS EHR Incentives and Meaningful Use Mock Audits
At the end of this month I’ll be conducting a webinar discussing the importance of mock audits for Eligible Hospitals (EHs) and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs). Learn more about Best Practices for conducing a Meaningful Use Mock Audit for Hospitals.
I’ve written extensively about how the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will conduct EHR incentive audits on at least five percent of the program participants for each stage of meaningful use. While a small portion of these audits will be random, the rest will be triggered by red flags including:
- Failure of a first audit appears to lead to a second audit of an earlier meaningful use attestation.
- The majority of failed audits seem to occur either for lack of having adequate documentation of the MU measures, proof of exclusion validity, or the Security Risk Analysis.
It has never been more critical for hospitals to look at conducting a mock audit to mitigate risk and identify potential problems.Join me and leading HIPAA security expert Steve Spearman as we review best practices for conducting a mock audit.Date: Monday, July 28 at 2 pm Eastern/1 pm CentralTopics: On this webinar we will address:
- Need for Meaningful Use Mock Audits
- Best Practices
- Documentation Requirements
- Mitigation Strategy
- Response Preparation
- Risk Analysis Essentials
